Start your afternoon off with a picnic in Dixon Park where your kids can enjoy basketball courts, a play structure or cool off at the Spray Park. Take a dip in the Indian Head Pool featuring a slide and a diving board also located in this park. Complete your afternoon with a trip to the Museum where the children can ring the bell at the old school house and discover thousands of artifacts dating back to the 1800s.
Need more to do? Finish this day with a trip to the Bell Barn and a movie at our local theatre! If your family is full of sports enthusiasts then add the Rural Sports Hall of Fame to your day, you won’t want to miss it!
Option #2 – Walk through the Past
If you have a love for history and heritage then this tour is for you. Start the afternoon at the Bell Barn and learn about Major Bell, Indian Head’s founder. Here you will discover what life was like in the late 1800s before Indian Head was even built. Then continue your tour at the Indian Head Museum where thousands of artifacts will help continue the story of how Indian Head came to be. Lastly, end your afternoon with a leisurely drive and take in our self guided Heritage Tour through which you will find beautiful old heritage properties throughout town, each with its own story to tell.
Need more to do? Take in a little sport history at the Rural Sports Hall of Fame or get a hands on experience with our local blacksmith. If your trip happens to fall on the 4th Saturday in June, July, August, & September you could also enjoy an Olde Tyme Barn Dance at the Bell Barn!
Option # 3 – Experience the Prairies
Create life long memories with a hands on prairie experience. Try your hand at blacksmithing or black anvil art, great for individuals, groups or families. You can start with something simple like creating a nail or you can get creative and create a piece of art out of sheet metal. This is truly a unique experience. Next, head over to the Valley View Guest Ranch located just 6 miles north of Indian Head for a guided trail ride and discover the beautiful prairie landscape.
Need more to do? Further your experience by booking an all day excursion with Valley View Guest Ranch, including a trip to Katepwa Beach.
